Stitch & Angel are all dressed up traditional style, no doubt for one of Japan's seemingly endless festivals.

The sharp-eyed amongst you will note that they carry bags....





Lookee what's inside the bag: CANDY!! Yay!!!



Not sure if it's Shichi-go-san (we got to see that fest when we wuz in Japan, and it's like the cutest thing in the entire universe, with gazillions of little bitty kids wrapped up in kimono), or something else. We do know the Fun*Fan*Amuse on the tag means these were most likely UFO catcher prizes.

Oh man, I can't quite make out the text on the tag. Looks like the candy is kinako-flavored and ??? flavored chocolate. Kinako would be the yellow stuff (it's a kind of peanutty tasting possibly soybean-based powder you put on mochi and stuff like that) and the green could be... some kind of leafy mochi? Or matcha?

I can't tell if Stitch and Angel are dressed for any specific holiday. Girl's Day would be about right given the cherry blossoms on Angel's kimono, but the tag says "haregi" or "celebratory/fancy clothes" rather than "hinamatsuri". Puzzling!

Boy, I took a really crap picture of that tag, didn't I? That's what happens when you're half-watching America's Next Top Model while you're supposed to be snapping photos. Curse you, Tyra Banks!!

Naw, it's me agin' eyes that's giving me trouble. I'm 90% sure it says that the non-kinako flavor is matcha.

Wow, your vision is impeccable. I think you're right--the second is probably matcha.

Kinako is the yums, but for me only if it's around some kind of light mochi. NOT chocolate. Ewww, I don't think I want to even go there.

Kinako is roasted soy bean flour.
