Nov. 19th, 2005 09:04 pmAnother slight change of plans, as we took the bullet train down to Hiroshima to see the Peace Park today. We learned the down side to J-trains: our first leg, we mistakenly took seats in the smoking compartment, which soon turned grey with floating carcinogens.
Some unsettling things about the A-bomb memorial, the primary of which, bands our Japanese tourists getting their photos taken, happy & smiling, in front of the A-bomb dome.

It was creepy seeing all these kids run around because for them it's just another lame required field trip, and you're there thinking "uh, do you know why I made a point to visit?" In my case, the kids trying to crash the photo I was taking of the Korean
slave laborguest workers memorial was particularly bad. Guys, any other part of Japan, sure, but...no subject
