Our buddy [livejournal.com profile] igrrl, the God Queen of Shitijiki, hipped us to a very cute Stitch pencil board, and thus, the floodgates opened.





Some pretty cute images on these boards.



They're also translucent, so you can see the design from the back as well.



A lot of people love pencial boards. Although, mysteriously, no one seems to know quite what the Japanese actually do with them.

pencial boards are put under a sheet of paper you are useing, so that when you write your writing does not cause an indent in the paper below it.

you know how like crime scene analysis can take a notepad and figure out what was written on it, even if the peice of paper that was written on is no longer there?

well this prevents that indent from happening.

why? no clue. but it's apperently very important for the japanese

Oh, ok, that at least makes sense. I had thought they were supposed to be used like clipboards, but they're so flimsy, that seemed a little weird.

Supposedly some schools have horrible desks. Then there's notebooks. You can put a board underneath the paper you're using and the rest of the paper underneath will be free from damage.
