So, we met Chris Sanders. He's got a web comic, Kiskaloo, and it's totally cute, and it's now out in paperback. We got him to sign it, and then we asked nicely....
So lucky! I love how he drew stitch. Ya know I was wondering something. I've been reading kiskaloo, and I thought the cat looked familiar, so I looked around. It turns out hes the same cat from Chris's concept art for American Dog. What are the chances Disney will leave him alone and let him continue to use the character? I mean if he created it while at Disney, wouldn't they technicly own it?
actually, Chris Sander's version of American Dog has been canned since Chris' leaving, so Disney gave the American Dog project a spin of it's own, and created 'Bolt', with an almost-similar story, but without Sander's magic and characters design (and it's coming this november...)
I guess it's Disney's own way of a 'goodbye present' to let him 'keep' his character. (though, i would love to see a plushie of it...)
aanyways, DARN YOU! Wish I got to meet him! Is there anything else you got? Any other story we should know?
Oh yeah, I knew they scrapped his stuff. Which is a shame but the new characters are almost as cute. I just didnt think disney was nice enough to allow him the use of his own work. There was a thing recently with Bratz/Mattel. The guy who created them, did so while working for mattel. And they won the case against him. I assume he knows what hes doing though. Was just curious. Thanks for your reply though :)
Oh side note. I went to look at your (itsnymo) LJ and just skimming, I saw that you had gotten life aquatic from the library, and I totally just got life aquatic from my library yesterday. It was pretty good. Better then I expected. :)
Yeah, they tagged the preview on to Wall E, and American Dog looks *nothing* like the Chris art I saw a couple years back. It looks fun, but the characters are much blander. Ah well. He sounds like he's very happy at Dreamworks, so I'm very happy for him!!

I feel REALLY uncomfortable in asking this, but do you know of any GUARANTEED way I could get a letter to Chris Sanders. I tried once when he was working for Disney about a year ago, but he never replied. I know he's busy and everything, but I really poured my heart into the letter and it stung something awful to know I never got a response.
Would you happen to have an address I could mail him a letter to, or maybe if I gave you a copy of the letter, could you give it to him if you see him again? I realize I shouldn't even ask this, but for all that Stitch means to me, the single greatest thing I could think of would be, if nothing else, to get a letter back from him.
Once again, sorry for asking, but I really was hoping you could help.

Chris has a web site (chrissandersart.com), and he's on MySpace, so I think your best bet is to contact him through there. I know of someone who wrote him a message through his MySpace about the new Stitch anime and Chris wrote back. If you really need to send a physical letter, I'm not sure. I'd guess something care of Dreamworks would be the way to go, or maybe you could ask him directly on MySpace about a good mailing adress.
One tip, Chris seems like he's pretty busy. I know you probably have a lot you'd like to say to him, but I think if you could keep your message brief, that might make it more likely he could read it?
