Oh, you just collect your aluminum cans, and then donate them, so the charity can recycle them and collect the money. I guess people don't think of getting money for recyclables any more since so many places just collect that stuff with the trash nowadays.

Nah, back in Ancient Times, we'd collect bottles or cans or bundles of newspapers, and after a while you'd haul it off to some central recycling place and they'd give you a bit of money for it. Of course, nowadays, I've heard there's *so much* recycled stuff, they have an oversupply, and it's really not worth anything.
