Tiki's tiki birthday
Jan. 20th, 2008 08:21 am
Since there was burning interest (OK, actually, just two of you, but since, on a very good day, a total of three people will read this blog, that represents a quorum), we here present some notes regarding last night's revelry.
By far the greatest annoyance last night was simply partking the damn car. The parking garage at Bellevue's Linconln center was seemingly engineered by baboons. Baboons, who were in a cranky mood!!!
And then, after a pleasant but oddly circuitous walk around the outside of the mall (because there's no direct path!), Trader Vic's!!!

Mr. Tiki and ourselves being, respectively, an engineer and a scientist, we spent a good deal of time poring over the drinks menu.

I used the Scientific Method to choose the Potted Parrot. Because, you get to keep the parrot!!!!

Mr. Tiki chose his namesake, the Tiki Bowl. And thus, pleasantly lubricated by the blendings of various rums and sugary syrups presented in oddly shaped containers, we chose the remainder of our menu: wonton soup (quite nice), calimari (delish!) and the salmon (mmmmm melty in your mouthy!). PLUS! Banana fritters.
The service was very pleasant, although the decor (not shown, as it was too dark) was a bit on the not too over the top-y side. (The greatest tiki glory seemed to be saved for the lounge.)

AND! We got to keep the parrot. And a little tiki tiki man. "What are you going to do with the parrot?" our spouse sensibly asked. Um. Well. That's not the pint, is it??? We got to keep the parrot!!
Also, there were no mariachis in sight, which is also a fine way to celebrate your birthday.
