From [livejournal.com profile] setsuna....

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Any old thing at all, the more trivial and fascinating, the better. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they enjoy piano tuning while blindfolded, and have a giant birthmark shaped like a Dachshund right between their shoulder blades."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

In case anybody out there wants and excuse to babble. Since otherwise we'll just babble on about ourselves endlessly, because that is our favorite-est topic (our Stitchies, ourselves).

By the by, speaking of vampires, has anybody out there in Intarnets-land actually been to Bran Castle? Any input as to teh kewlness vs. stupid tourist trap issue?

I simply lurk because you show much knowledge, and you have got one helluva sense of humor. (Not to mention you're a Stitchaholic and a dollyfiend.)

I'm a geek that runs the jewelry making department at our local hobby store. I'm not particularly fond of the customers I get, but I like the job and pays well enough. In my spare time, I play with my dolls, do costuming (particularly of anime or video game fame), and play religiously on the computer MMORPG World of Warcraft. XD

Oh, I didn't know you were another WOW player! I seem to have a lot of WoW folks on my FL, which is funny because I'm so pathetically lame at games myself!!

Where I'm from depends on where I am when you ask me that question.

I've lived in Boston since 9/6/94, and so when I travel now, I tell people I'm from Boston. But here, I tell people I'm from Winston-Salem, NC, which is where I mostly grew up and where my parents still live. However, I'm originally from Wheeling, WV, and my family is from Pittsburgh, which is why when I went to the Bruins/Penguins game last week, I wasn't pulling for the home team. It's also often easier to tell people I'm from Pittsburgh than it is WV, because people hear "West Virginia" and think "dueling banjos," even though the part of the state I'm from is much closer to Pittsburgh than that...though I did live on a remote farm, on the other side of the mountain from the main Krishna temple.

So I'm kinda from NC, kinda from Boston, kinda from West Virginia. To you, I could just average it out and say I'm from the east coast.

Related: As you may know, scarves with your team and/or location name are popular accessories among soccer fans, and every year the local fan group for the team I follow designs new scarves. Last year, one of the proposed designs read "NEW ENGLAND BORN AND RAISED," which I kept hoping would win, because it would mean that the front row of the crazy fan section would be full of people holding that scarf...people who were born in such quaint New England locales as Wheeling, Baltimore, Saranac Lake, NY, Long Island, Bombay, Munich, and Daegu.

I'm more likely to think about coal miners for some reason.

I tell everyone I'm from Seattle. I was born in Southern California, and, thinking about it, I actually spent most of my life so far down there, but it doesn't seem even remotely like "home" any more. Although, Mr. Tiki never lets me forget I'm from there when someone from Cali does something silly (which is often).

Watching the film Billy Eliot made me realize I was much better off living in a depressed coal mining region of the US in 1984 than a depressed coal mining region of the UK.

but it doesn't seem even remotely like "home" any more

Same with me for NC and WV. Still, no matter how long I live here, no matter the fact I married a local stereotype, no matter how much I love this city, I'm always gonna be "from away," as the Mainers put it.

my first job out of college was working at the local zoo (which was an old tourist trap from the 50s and hadn't changed much). i got paid to wrestle alligators. and train birds to ride bicycles and high-wire unicycles. i wound up building their education department from scratch and "gradumitated" into the "career" of running around, playing with kids and adults, and calling it education.

i also collect nutcrackers and have over 100 - this year for christmas i got a darth vader and a R2D2 nutcracker.

Mr. Tiki is still looking for those nutcrackers!! I think he ended up getting one for Xmas.

I know you've written about the zoo - it sounds totally fun. i couldn't do that kind of thing - I'd want to bring home all the baby animals.

Tiki ... I don't know if you remember when I used to make my own holiday cards - that was before I started to just totally bake instead of *making* my own cards *and* sending baked goodies to friends/family. Now the baking just seems to have 'taken over'.

Every time I go to a museum (like today - LACMA's Dali exhibit or even more so just goofing around the Norton Simon Museum in November), I feel 'guilty' that I no longer make holiday cards (a time/energy thing). But there have been comments that my baking is both an art *and* science. Unfortunately, I can't 'sign' my work -- unless I shellac it.

Well, if you want to make more cards - Xmas has passed, but there's still Valentine's day. Not to mention President's Day, St. Paddy's Day, St. Swithin's day, and I'm sure Ozzie Mark's calendar is full of yet more stuff like Wollagarong day, suitable for cardmaking pursuits.

I am also allergic to mayo.

Nope. I can eat eggs.

Doing something I never did before. That being writing with three others what is turning out to be a massive tome, 600 pages done as of today. It's a furry story that is inspired by the "Pirates" movies. In our story our world of the 1700's is the same but we have furries that co-exist with us. I am very proud of our efforts. We are creating, in my humble opinion, something of a "Narnia" and Harry Potter type of novel. This has been going on since October of 2006. "Happy New Year Tiki!" --Me/Henry

PS: As you love Stitch, I love my Kimba!

I saw this and have had a tab open for several days during a bit of LJ catch-up...

so me, I'm addicted to board games. my friends and I have board game nights practically every other week (way more fun than bars or nightclubs, in our opinion). it's cheap fun and great entertainment!

...and I adore Stitch. you've got all the cool Stitchie stuff a girl could ever want. and then some! one could say I am a tad envious :)

There was a Stitch board game when the movie was originally out - I have an opened version. I wonder if I should make Mr. Tiki play it with me?

Do you play mostly old school games, like Clue, or the new ones like Trivial Pursuit? We've played Star Wars Trivial Pursuit several times at our Star Wars club meetings, and it's kind of dumb, because nobody ever gets any of the questions wrong! :-)

oh we play 'em all. whatever's lying around. sometimes the new twists on the old games... like DVD Clue (it's actually pretty spiffy). I've got a zillion trivial pursuits (which do get hard when everyone knows all the answers! but the SNL version is HARD)... a couple Scene Its. If you're looking for fun, Apples to Apples, Catch Phrase and ImaginIff can get prettttty rowdy :)

and I might have to look into finding this Stitch board game... I saw your post on it and was instantly envious! :)
