setsuna....
I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Any old thing at all, the more trivial and fascinating, the better. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they enjoy piano tuning while blindfolded, and have a giant birthmark shaped like a Dachshund right between their shoulder blades."
I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.
In case anybody out there wants and excuse to babble. Since otherwise we'll just babble on about ourselves endlessly, because that is our favorite-est topic (our Stitchies, ourselves).
By the by, speaking of vampires, has anybody out there in Intarnets-land actually been to Bran Castle? Any input as to teh kewlness vs. stupid tourist trap issue?

Date: 2007-12-30 07:36 pm (UTC)I'm a geek that runs the jewelry making department at our local hobby store. I'm not particularly fond of the customers I get, but I like the job and pays well enough. In my spare time, I play with my dolls, do costuming (particularly of anime or video game fame), and play religiously on the computer MMORPG World of Warcraft. XD

Date: 2007-12-30 07:47 pm (UTC)I've lived in Boston since 9/6/94, and so when I travel now, I tell people I'm from Boston. But here, I tell people I'm from Winston-Salem, NC, which is where I mostly grew up and where my parents still live. However, I'm originally from Wheeling, WV, and my family is from Pittsburgh, which is why when I went to the Bruins/Penguins game last week, I wasn't pulling for the home team. It's also often easier to tell people I'm from Pittsburgh than it is WV, because people hear "West Virginia" and think "dueling banjos," even though the part of the state I'm from is much closer to Pittsburgh than that...though I did live on a remote farm, on the other side of the mountain from the main Krishna temple.
So I'm kinda from NC, kinda from Boston, kinda from West Virginia. To you, I could just average it out and say I'm from the east coast.
Related: As you may know, scarves with your team and/or location name are popular accessories among soccer fans, and every year the local fan group for the team I follow designs new scarves. Last year, one of the proposed designs read "NEW ENGLAND BORN AND RAISED," which I kept hoping would win, because it would mean that the front row of the crazy fan section would be full of people holding that scarf...people who were born in such quaint New England locales as Wheeling, Baltimore, Saranac Lake, NY, Long Island, Bombay, Munich, and Daegu.

Date: 2007-12-30 09:50 pm (UTC)I'm more likely to think about coal miners for some reason.
I tell everyone I'm from Seattle. I was born in Southern California, and, thinking about it, I actually spent most of my life so far down there, but it doesn't seem even remotely like "home" any more. Although, Mr. Tiki never lets me forget I'm from there when someone from Cali does something silly (which is often).

Date: 2007-12-31 01:50 am (UTC)Watching the film Billy Eliot made me realize I was much better off living in a depressed coal mining region of the US in 1984 than a depressed coal mining region of the UK.
but it doesn't seem even remotely like "home" any more
Same with me for NC and WV. Still, no matter how long I live here, no matter the fact I married a local stereotype, no matter how much I love this city, I'm always gonna be "from away," as the Mainers put it.

Date: 2007-12-31 03:51 am (UTC)Every time I go to a museum (like today - LACMA's Dali exhibit or even more so just goofing around the Norton Simon Museum in November), I feel 'guilty' that I no longer make holiday cards (a time/energy thing). But there have been comments that my baking is both an art *and* science. Unfortunately, I can't 'sign' my work -- unless I shellac it.

Date: 2008-01-07 03:50 am (UTC)so me, I'm addicted to board games. my friends and I have board game nights practically every other week (way more fun than bars or nightclubs, in our opinion). it's cheap fun and great entertainment!
...and I adore Stitch. you've got all the cool Stitchie stuff a girl could ever want. and then some! one could say I am a tad envious :)

Date: 2008-01-07 05:59 pm (UTC)Do you play mostly old school games, like Clue, or the new ones like Trivial Pursuit? We've played Star Wars Trivial Pursuit several times at our Star Wars club meetings, and it's kind of dumb, because nobody ever gets any of the questions wrong! :-)
