Larry "Big Love" O'Donnell goes off on Mormons in general and the Mittster in particular. BTW, everything he says is true - the LDS religion officially thinks Black people have dark skin because they're being punished by God for something. Yeah, really really.

If it's fireworks you be wantin', tiki heartily recommends tuning into CSPAN 2. Chris "Mr. Smith" Dodd is filibustering the FISA bill. (About FUCKING time.) Sen. Kennedy was just fuming about people "dying to protect the phone company." Good, good stuff.

I heard that Black people were "black" because they were the descendants of Cain, and they shouldered the guilt of murdering their brother, and that's why they were not allowed to become officials in the LDS. The guy in the video mentions 1978 but I thought the LDS changed to allow Blacks into its fold for political reasons (didn't it have something to do with being threatened to have some federal funding cut off or something?) I can't find reference to the latter, though.

Now the thing is, Romney is a Mormon, and there are some Protestants who actually refuse to vote for him because they believe that the Church of Latter-Day Saints is a cult. Well it is, but they really don't want to vote for a cultist.

And the problem is, they have an option. Mike Huckabee is an ordained Southern Baptist minister. So they actually have "someone from their fold" so to speak.

Huckabee is a social conservative and fiscal liberal. Eeek, the worst combination I can think of. At least Romney, as cooky as he is, is a social conservative and fiscal conservative. Neither are optimal but I'm not voting for a Southern Baptist minister who wants to spend all our money on things I don't believe in.

...time to go donate more money to the O campaign.

Yeah, I'm much amused at how none of the neo-cons want to face head on the dumbassedness of Mormon theology. And the comparison to Scientology - priceless!
