Did you hear the news about Yahoo!Japan and E-bay partnering up?

My fear, of course, is that we'll STILL need to rely on shopping services, since the partnership is unlikely to actually convince Japanese sellers to sell stuff overseas. But still, it'll be nice and easy to find stuff.

Incidentally, this should be the search string for Nyarlothotep:
Nyaruru/ニャルルゥ

There's one currently going for 5750 yen (from a seller who's a smoker, but the doll is allegedly MIB).

No, I hadn't heard that one. I'm not sure if this is a good thing, since American buyers typically drive Japanese sellers completely batshit.

*nods* But still... it's encouraging for us addicts!

Oooooooo. I may have to check constantly now. Alas, despite the awesome black-variant costumes, the blonde re-releases (instead of the original pink hair on her and Mimicotton and such) is less thrilling to me.

I wonder if Miss Cthulhu is going to sell out like crazy because of the fan crossover.

I can't believe we're all worried about "crossover appeal" when we're talking about Cthulhu fandom. ^_^

Hahah! But really, Cthulhu fandom IS one of those Big Geeky Things and everyone just sort of knee-jerk instantly loves. Look at the plushes! They're undeniably awesome!

Not to be little miss literary snob, but I DID have an odd obsession with Victorian lit as a child... I like to assume every geek has actually read Lovecraft and isn't just exposed via D&D and the like, but sometimes I wonder if Cthulhu hasn't just become another Hello Kitty. (Well, it's pretty obvious it HAS, but.)

I think not, because, compared to HK, Cthulhu is NOT QUITE EVIL ENOUGH!

And, yes, as a wee tiki, I read the Dunwich Horror. Though I don't count myself a big fan of the prose stylings of Mr. Lovecraft, I think I'm more into Cthulhu due to the tentacly-ness.

Mwahahaha! I love how blatantly effective Kuromi has been lately...

Yeah... see, I'm more of a Poe girl. I'm just inherently not really afraid of anything supernatural, so while I thought the prose was okay, Lovecraft simply didn't speak to me. Cory, however, is very MUCH affected by supernatural-style fear, so is an actual fan of Lovecraft. Poe, imho, at least, speaks more to the human aberrants and sociopaths, which, along with poxes and zoonosis and such, is one of the few things that I can actually fear. Serial killers are far scarier, to me, than the Imaginary Made Up Oogie Boogie Man. Which speaks, I think, on the difference between our worldviews... which I'll probably babble about eventually in my journal, but I need to go pass out and corrupt the youth tomorrow. (I get to substitute teach eighth grade math! For a week! Whee!)
