We usually try to avoid NBC stuff (because, well, we already have plenty of crap), but these cell straps are adorable. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) Strapya World sent us this picture well after most of the stuff had already sold out.

I actually haven't carried travelers checks for years. We were fine in Japan with debit cards and credit cards. The only caution is that sometimes, seemingly at random, my credit card wouldn't work. So, always carry enough cash, or have an alternate credit card. It used to be no one would take cc's, but we really didn't run into that too much.

oh! *thank you* for that! i was going to take bank of america, but soon-to-be mr. misha doesn't think that it'll work. also, we've heard horror stories about the rates being really high for credit cards. i'm glad to hear that it isn't that bad!

We were there almost two years ago now, so my information may be dated. I think you're going to get terrible exachange rates no matter what you do, as the dollar isn't worth the paper it's printed on any more. But our CC companies gave us decent rates. One thing you might check into is whether your particular CC company has any hidden charges for international exchange. Citibank doesn't, I think, but others might.
