Cheap laffs

tiki is a source of amusement this morning.

Because we are tottering around in these:



For the duration of the twenty-first century, we have not donned a heel of more than one centimeter's elevation from floor level. Not that we have anything against heels, other than their interference with day to day locomotion, not to mention, stairs.

BUT! We have a wedding to go to. Not a formal wedding, but rather, a hip alternative wedding, where The Man will not keep you down by forcing you to wear the stuffy coats and ties.

Which, of course, ended up forcing us to go shopping. For something that doesn't look dressed up (so bourgeoise!), but, of course, is.

Fortunately, Casa de Tiki currently offers a French person at our disposal for shopping purposes, and, with timely Gallic intervention, we ended up escaping Nordstrom with a quite passable skirt and blouse combo. We were under orders, however, to obtain suitable boots. In order to avoid a potential international incident, therefore, we ordered the above via one day delivery from Zappos.

And thus, we totter, strangely bemused by the notion that we've just purchased a pair of leather boots in order to attend a ceremony in honor of two very nice vegans.

*rotfl* The vegan baker that I know says when she makes her deliveries to the vegan restaurants, she & her s.o. look down at customer's shoes to see how far along the vegan spectrum people are.

Vegan shoes still freak me out. Not because of vegans, who all seem terribly nice, I just remember the animal rights fanatics who used to threaten me us in grad school always wore the same creepy plastic shoes.
