This statue of Stitch, from Japan's awesome Disney mall, is based on an actual statue of the legendary King Kamehameha, which stands in Kapa'au.

One fun thing about Lilo & Stitch is learning bitlets of Hawaiian culture. It's a state in the union, but we literally knew nothing of its history other than surfer dudes come from there.

Oh. And poi. Whatever the heck that is.

This is not a Big Fig, fortunately (we're kinda running out of room). It's about 8 or 9 inches high. We really gotta get a new curio cabinet, because it's pretty awesome.

Poi is mashed up taro root. If you ever have dim sum, they offer fried taro root as one of the umpteenth dishes. It's the purple stuff they serve at luaus. Most tourists/non-Hawaiians hate the stuff. I happen to love it.

It's cool when we were in Kauai for the wedding Mr. Spazzygirl was in in 2002 (the year L&S came out). Often Lilo will mention certain places a cousin is hiding & it's cool knowing that it's a real place *and* that I actually know what she's talking about. ;-)
