Couldn't sleep, so I finally finished Deathly Hallows. So, you will no longer be banned from my FL FOR EVAR for spoilers.

Some of the followup articles I linked are pretty interesting. :)

Oh, thanks for that! I've been trying so hard to keep myself "pure," I missed all the commentary. Even the guy who sat across from us on the plane ride back from Shanghai spotted the book and urged me to read to the end so we could talk about it.

I finished re-reading it a few days ago...... it works really well for multiple reads, there's all kinds of tiny details that work their way into the finale. I do hope she doesn't take a decade to do the Hogwarts Encyclopedia she's talked about though....

I was less impressed by the first half, but yes, will have to re-read, maybe after I finish Half Blood Prince again (didn't care for that one the first time around).

The first half of DH seemed to be "Let's set up something that'll be highly whimsical, and then shoot it down with flaming missles of destruction", like say, the Seven Harry's, or the trip to Godric's Hollow [poor Bathilda]. Though it did create a nice sense of urgency..... I found the best part were the slow unveiling of the history between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, and important thing I certainly never expected to be so important [which is what made it good].

I found HBP was more fun on the 2nd and 3rd readings. I love all the HP books, but the only one I clug a little through is Chamber of Secret- the later 1/2 is much better, though I didn't like some parts of the first [flyingcar is cool, but mabye I'm like Hermione and don't like the rule breaking :)]. It's got a lot of good/important stuff, but not as much fun to read as some of the others [and they left my favorite part out of the movies with the Deathday party :(].
