Blatant Copyright Infringement at Chinese State-Run Amusement Park
Copyright infringement involving Walt Disney Company properties at the state-run Shijingshan Amusement Park in Beijing is leading to friction between China and the United States.
With the widespread availability of pirated DVDs and character goods, the Chinese government has long been criticised over its handling of intellectual property concerns, and the unauthorized appearance of Disney characters at the Shijingshan Amusement Park is adding more fuel to the fire.
Advertising under the slogan "Disneyland is too far," the Shijingshan Amusement Park has erected Magic Kingdom landmarks including Cinderella's castle and scenery from the Lion King, and the park employs staff dressed as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, etc. All of these properties are being used without the permission of the Walt Disney Company.
Pretty funny. It must add to Dizzney's ire that the HK Dizzyland is reportedly not doing well financially.
