Seatbelts Save Lives

Do you know how we can tell the difference between people who were wearing their seatbelts and those who weren’t, at the scene of an automobile accident? The ones who were wearing their seatbelts are standing around saying “This really sucks,” and the ones who weren’t are kinda just lying there.

This is not to say that all unrestrained traffic accidents are fatals, or that seatbelted folks are invulnerable. But if you’re playing the odds….

In other words, wear your goddam seatbelts, kiddies.

Speaking as someone who barely survived a car accident without a seatbelt (I went through the windshield face-first, landed on my face and skidded), and whose mother did not survive the same accident--yeah. Wear the seatbelt. And the Governor is a dumbfuck for not having worn his.

Yeah, my grandma was nearly killed in a rollover when she and my grandpa ran into a herd of deer. Nobody belted in, of course. It totally put the fear of god into me and Gus last year when *we* were driving at dusk in Montana--I swear to god, the deer there are RETARDED! Or suicidal. Or something.

Anyways, when I heard about Corzine, I just wanted to thump him!

Couple years ago, KQ and I were going to the airport at about 4 in the morning. Two deer ran out onto the freeway in front of us. Luckily, since it was so early, there was nobody else on the road, so we stopped. And the deer stood there and LOOKED at us like "Duuuuh..." and then skittered away. There's lots of problems with deer + car = accident around here.
