Yesterday, someone put up a link to this fantastic old Milton Bradley commercial, which we are actually ancient enough to remember seeing on a genuine black & white teevee.

But it got us thinking: Mystery Date proffered a variety of "good" dates, like a preppy dude, and some twit dressed in ski pants. But, the game's "dud" date (which would make you lose all your cards) was the nerd.

Since tiki is a nerd, we actually ended up marrying a fellow nerd (the bodacious [livejournal.com profile] mr_tikistitch), who, aside from being cute and smart, actually holds a steady job at a dot.com.

What exactly is the "dreamy" ski bum date doing nowadays?

Bite me, Mystery Date.

You know how brain-damaged I am? I remember the commercial, but have no recollection at all whether or not I ever actually played the damned game.

Considering that it ran every 15 minutes on Saturday and Sunday mornings for approximately a century, or at least it seemed that long, this is not surprising. It's drilled into our heads like that goddamned Frito Bandito song.

Oh, thank you so much for giving me that damn earworm!

Let me return the favour: "Screaming yellow zonkers. Screaming yellow zonkers. Screaming yellow zonkers."

Weird. I remember the animation, but I don't remember the audio at all.

Of course there's always, "Nesbitt's Orange Soda Pop! Soda Pop! Soda Pop!"

I don't remember Nesbitt's Orange soda pop, but the Screaming yellow zonkers I remember vividly. Think of conga-line type music.
