1. If you could suddenly speak one language fluently (that you don't currently speak) what would it be?

That's a toughie! The obvious choice for me is Japanese, but Spanish would be so much more useful (not to mention, sexy).

2. If you were to suggest a foreign film, that you really enjoyed, what one would you suggest?

If you haven't seen Seven Samurai, well, what the hell are you doing?

You could also get off seing Rashomon or Ran.

Or Tonari no Totoro.

3. If you had to call another country home (other than the one you currently live in) what one would you choose?

Spain Spain Spain Spain Spain!!!!

O to live on churros con chocolate!

4. If you went out to buy an import music CD, what one would you buy?

Something by Imidiwaren. They rock.

5. If you were to chose an ethnic dinner, what would it be?

Hmmm. I don't know if I'd call Mexican "ethnic," really, since it's pretty much American food. Really ethnic ethnic, I'd love to find a nice Tunisian place so I could have some brick. Mmmmm, brick au thon.....

If the magic ability included the ability to read and write, I'd go for Japanese, simply because Spanish IS fairly easy to learn. (I'm practicing to become fluent -- I studied it for years, but at the time lacked many Spanish-speaking friends.) But magic-Japanese, BOOM! Instant memorization.

I seriously pity students of English. Man. The only thing that must suck worse than learning English is learning Slavic languages. (Well, for me. I tried. They're all about phonics, which my brain refuses to process, and CURSIVE HANDWRITING, which I pretty much never learned in the first place because omg I had a computer dood.)

This issue has been much upon my mind, as we're going through Russia and China this summer, and I kinda sorta half-remember my two quarters of college Russian, though not enough to make much of a difference. Guess I'm gonna be flapping my arms and pointing a lot.

I've heard that Russian and Chinese are 2 of the hardest languages to learn. (English is another.)

Being totally fluent in Japanese would rock. It drives me mad that it's a language made for both wordplay and calligraphy, often in tandem, and I can read...*counts on fingers*...four characters.

How long do you have to cook brick? Is it like doing a frozen turkey?
