WASHINGTON - Former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was convicted Tuesday of obstruction, perjury and lying to the FBI in an investigation into the leak of a CIA operative's identity.

Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was accused of lying and obstructing the investigation into the 2003 leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity to reporters.

He was acquitted of one count of lying to the FBI.

While I'm pleased, it's not like he's the only guilty party. Others up the chain *cough*Cheney*cough* are just as much or more guilty. I'd call him a sacrificial lamb but the phrase implies an innocence that he certainly isn't.

Save some champagne for men

Hey, I know it's not even the end of Libby--he'll be back, and even if Bushie doesn't pardon him, he'll soon have his own talk show on Fox Noise Channel. Those guys take care of their own--like omerta. But, I take my victories where I can get 'em.

*nods* We understands. In the words of Doonesbury: Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!

Did I mention that the other day mom asked if I heard about the bombing attempt on Dick Cheney? (And have I mentioned how much I enjoy calling the VP a "Dick"?) I told her I didn't expect it to succeed - you can't kill a cyborg. He's like Robert Patrick in Terminator 2, he just keeps reforming and comin' back. *shudders*

I'm still grrrrrrr, because not only are they not going after anyone else, turns out the jury was saying "why aren't you going after anyone else? Where's fatboy?" More head would role if there were real trials.

damn politicians, get away with murder....

Aw, [livejournal.com profile] nitasee beat me to the Doonesbury reference!

On NPR today, I was somewhat amused to hear "Now, with details on the trial of Louis 'Scooter' Libby, is Libby Lewis." That couldn't have worked out any better if they'd planned it.
