Girls day isn't until March, but we understand Japanese families generally start displaying the fun stuff in February. (Unlike tiki, who displays it 365 days a year.)

I was wondering.. hey wait a minute isn't Girls Day in March?? (March 3rd) but then like Christmas one must have to get to the store early, yes?

You can't really rely on my blog for good timing of the holiday critters--the problem is, I usually have to wait a month or so for stuffs to get shipped from Japan, so I'm often getting VDay Stitchies in March, or Reindeer Stitchies in February.

But, from what I've read about it, Japanese parents often set up Girls Day stuff a bit earlier. I don't know if this means *all* parents though, since as you know, some folks don't get their Xmas tress up 'til Xmas even, and then tend to leave them up through January.

When I went to Japan in January, the department stores already had displays up. Some of them cost thousands and thousands of dollars, so I suppose you might need time to decide. *G*

OOOOO, coolness!

We went in late November, they had some kind of matsuri that involved little girls dressing up in kimonos. If there's anything cuter than a little girl in a kimono, I don't know about it!

I know, totally adorable! You must have been there for 7-5-3 day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shichi-go-san). I can just imagine the high cuteness factor.

Much to my surprise, the Japanese electronics store in San Jose has several Girls' Day displays for sale, both the cutesy ones and the elaborately realistic ones. Drool...

I love the little teensy furniture they display with the dollies. I'm *so* glad they don't sell any Girls Day stuffs around here!!!

Once I saw an Ultraman hina-matsuri set. It was so cute it was painful!

Did you ever get the Sailor Moon hinamatsuri set? That's one thing I actually never got, and kinda regretted not getting it (even though I have far too much junk).

I do have most of the SM hina-matsuri set--still missing a couple pieces, although I'm not 100% sure which ones! I think I'm missing Chibi and Mercury, and possibly Venus.

(I think a General Grievous hina-matsuri set would be awesome. And yes, I'm trying to make you sporfle your coffee all over your monitor.)
