So, we were clicking around on TiVo just to see what our friend had squirreled away for our quality viewing pleasure, when what did we espy but OMG THEY TAPED THE PRISONER!!!

Not only quality Teevee, but possibly the Best. TV. EVAR!! If you haven't see (ZOMG!) it's about a spy guy and he resigns and they spirit him away to a mysterious British holiday camp where everything is cool and mod and existential and artsy camera angles abound!

And did we mention the giant bubble?

We immediately started stabbing on that little red button that gets you to the screen to OMG RECORD SERIES. Only to find, NO MORE SHOWS listed on BBC America's schedule. They just showed it like, once, at 4 am on a Wednesday or something and sorries, NO PRISONER FOR YOU!

Aiiiiii!!!!

We got Netflix pretty much exclusively for the purpose of watching The Prisoner, Doctor Who, and other BBC series that would be too damn expensive to buy on DVD for ourselves. Quality stuff.

Geeky addendum: I am currently occasionally playing Nintendo's "Animal Crossing: Wild World" on the Nintendo DS. It is a maddening social-communication-simulation game in which you are a human being dropped into a tiny community of insanely needy, talking animals who require you to make deliveries, find rare furniture for them, and compete in fishing competitions for fairly arbitrary reasons. Oh yeah, and the local shop owner is a tanuki/racoon who cons you into a hopelessly high mortgage, and you CAN'T LEAVE EVER.

You get to choose the flag that represents the community, as well as the tune that plays every time you talk to a critter or enter a building. I've re-programmed the tune to be the theme from The Prisoner. It seems appropriate.

I tried to design an outfit in the game that would look like the outfits from The Prisoner, but failed. For now, she's wearing a shirt with a big 6 on it.

OOOOO!!! YOU GOT TO SIT IN THE TAXI!!!!

(Though neither of your Blythes looks much like Patrick McGoohan, heehee.)

I'd always wanted to get out to The Village. I wonder if I'd have time to go when we're in London this summer?

You've got to go there! Please make time to go. There's nowhere else quite like it and that place'll stay in your mind forever. I think it should be on the list of 'wonders of the world' ^_~

The next episode on the schedule is "Many Happy Returns" on February 7. More info here, though I'd say to go with Netflix or just buy the boxxed set.

BTW, if you just discovered the series, maybe you didn't know that THE VILLAGE is a real place, with a very cool history, and YOU CAN RENT A ROOM THERE!! ^0^
