Does something look a teensy bit familiar about these guys?

Look like anyone we know?

Here's the blue "devil alien." He looks like Stitch on steroids.

Pointy tail! These are from Japan, but we're not sure if they're UFO catchers or what.

Do you or your husband have any tips for movie memorabilia collecting for a particular film? I'm just realising that I'm spending lots of money on lots of little bits - merchandising/interviews when I'd rather spend the same amount on one big thing like a prop if that makes sense?
But I have no idea where to start, I've looked on movie studio auctions and things... Can't find anything. The film is a bit old now but then again so is Star Wars and your hubby never seems to be short of a few props!

Sorry if this is a silly naive question but I'm genuinely interested!

Saw lots of cute little Stitchie items at the Disney store the other day, am waiting closer to Halloween to treat myself to the Stitchula! (so soft and gorgeous detailing on the outfit, with the colours and design, aw) They had little keyring Stitchies, like a plush stitch hanging off the keyring that you can put your keys on, and some little tiny plushies. Very cute! Oh and I saw the anime looking Stitch? With the woogly eyes, down ears and very soft? Aww!

What movie are you trying to find props for? It seems that science fiction movies, even the ones that weren't terribly popular, have the most stuff available. There are some movie prop internet forums that you might want to read before you buy--I'll ask Mr. Tiki for the links. He actually often buys from a prop store that's located in England. Since Star Wars was partially filmed in London, there's still a lot of stuff in your neck of the woods.

Star Wars is kind of in a league on it's own. It's still insanely popular, and has a ton of fanatical fans, so that helps to get prop items out there, since people know there will be a market for their Ewok teeth or whatever.

Oh, and what is woogly eyes Stitch? Do you have a picture??

Ahh, of course, silly me. Stars Wars is like the hugest franchise!
The movie I'm interested in is "Rumble Fish" by Coppola from 1983. He filmed it in Tulsa straight after "The Outsiders".. But they didn't really have props as such, I'm guess I'm thinking about costumes etc. But all that stuff would be long gone. Hmm..

Awww, I think one of the studios that did star wars stuff is very near me within 20 miles.. is it Pinewood or Elstree or Ealing?

I think you already have the Stitch as it looked familiar to me.. I used the wrong term by woogly really.... he just looked more anime style as the eyes had those dots in? Hmm, I'll see if I can snap a photo tomorrow!

Oops, looks like LJ ate my comment.

Mr. Tiki recommends Prop Store of London:

I doubt they'd actually have something from Rumble Fish in stock, but I think they actually have a physical store as well as a web site, so it might be interesting for you to get over there and look around, just to see what kind of things are available, price ranges, and the like.

It all kind of depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it. As you might know, Mr. Tiki has actually done kooky stuff like go to the old Star Wars filming site in Africa to track down props.

Oh, and they shot Star Wars at Elstree--that's probably pretty near to you as well!

Wheee! Thank you for the helpful advice and links!
I can't even express how close Elstree is as well as that prop warehouse!
They seem really nice and friendly at that warehouse, might just drop an email to see if they have any advice as I have lots of names from the crew that I might see if I can contact some of them somehow for memories on what happened with the stuff onset?

Got an email back from the production stills photographer, he's going to let me do a mini interview with him for my website wheee! *must* work on the front page design tonight. it's taking so long that it's not even funny anymore!
