Dear Bill O'Reilly,

Hahahaha! Nice try, dickweed. Like we're all going to forget Foley belongs to the Grand Old Perverts 'cause you mislabel it on Faux News.

Jokes on you, dude: your viewers' median age is, like, 85 years old now--they can't even read the subscripts any more!!!

Go choke on a falafel.

The AP did it too...

I can see accidentally switching the D and R, but this pisses me off! https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/tw1/Filemanager_Public_Files/lj/2006/Fox_Lies_Foley/Fox-Foley-Dem-3.jpg

Makes ya wonder if Faux News just has Mad Libs-style templates for their captions, accusing Dems of various malfesasnce, just fill-in-the-blanks.....

Someone else on my friends list also posted this, and it led to a very long discussion. Mr. Polk said:

"Nah, they just have sex with them and then say to the world "mind your own damn business" and then go on to be re-elected five more times.

"While I doubt that anybody at Fox News did that intentionally (or, at least, not anybody with any kind of management responsibility) it is funny when stupid mistakes reinforce what everybody thinks about you anyway."

Someone asked if Mr. Polk meant Fox or Foley, and the clarification (from another poster) was:

"What Everybody Thinks About You Anyway, in this case, is that Fox News is in the Reddest part of the Fourth Estate, and they would have no compunction about tagging a disgraced Congressman as a Dem in hopes of tainting whatever mouthbreathing lackwit fencesitters might be watching at the time."

As for the 'mind your own damn business' statement, he was talking about Gerry Studds:

"In 1983 a House investigation found that a Massachusetts congressman actually had sex with one of the pages (a male one if it at all matters). At the same time a Republican was found to have had sex with a page as well. The Republican cried and apologized and then wasn't reelected. The Democrat turned his back on the chamber when he was officially censured, held a press conference saying that what he did was nobody's business, and then went on to be reelected five more times before retiring in 1997.

And I really doubt anybody with any responsibility at Fox News said "you know, we could really turn this scandal around if in a chiron we listed Foley as a Democrat. Ignore the fact that we've been talking about his Republicanness pretty much nonstop for the last three days." Perhaps some low-level schlub thought it would be funny, but more likely it was a stupid mistake that reinforces the stereotype."

...it's easy to mindlessly copy and paste since I just read that and nodded a lot.

Isn't the sexing-the-interns so much as it appears the Repub leadership was all aware for maybe a year, maybe more, and did nada other than accept a very large juicy campaign contribution from aforesaid Mr. Foley.

This isn't the first time that Faux News has magically tranformed a Republican to a Democrat...when that Republican has done someting scandalous. I'm beginning to think it must be an "editorial" policy. Once, I might believe it to be an accident, but with serious reservations. Twice, I don't think so. I really, really, really don't think that was an accident. I guess they really do think their viewers are that stupid.
