Or rather, tiki art yesterday. 'Tis been kind of hectic, so we've been procrastinating on getting up these pix from the marvelous tiki art show at Roq La Rue the other night. Anyways, the work pictured above is by the Grand Poobah of Tiki, Shag, who we actually got go meet.

A really humongo Tim Biskup piece that was near the entryway. Wish our picture did it justice, 'cause it's incredible.

This was one of our faves--a crazy tiki bird by an artist named Tiki tOny. We're not familiar with him.

Blythe by Lisa Petrucci, who lives in Seattle. Here's her house--is it not the awesomeness? She's also really nice.

Blockheads from Stuckie at Munktiki.

Here's the limited edition Munktiki mug.

We got #49 of 100 in the entire universe!

And the catalog. Since Boneboy was there, he helped us stalk some artists.

See? We got Shag's autograph! Teh kewl.

And Lisa too! She drew a kittie--EEEEEEE!!!

She's just as cute as her art. And super nice.

Dude! I think I'm totally in love with Lisa's house. That isn't where you got the idea for the pastel shades used at Casa de Tikistitch by any chance, is it? And what an AWESOME collection of stuff she has!

That exhibit looks awesome. Do you recall seeing any work by an artist named Kipling West?

In fact, I can't remember where I found the link to her house, but it was just a couple days ago, when we were already putting the final coats on Casa de Tiki. I forwarded it along to Boneboy, 'cause I think he is her secret evil twin. He then called from the Tiki art show and said, "Guess what, Lisa is HERE!" So I had to run over and meet her.

I don't see Kipling West in the catalog, so, no.

Love Lisa's house, especially the Keene art wall!! (My aunt had a couple of those in her house back in the late 60s and I'd scare the bejeebers out of my little sister by telling her scary stories about them! (evil grin!))

yum! yah Tiki art!

and Lisa's house looks like a giant magnet for all the kische stuff I remember from the 60's and 70's, lol! (reminds me I gotta get my Keene's framed one of these days, they've been unframed since my mom gave them to me years ago, we are the original owners...)

We had Keene kids on the walls when I was little, but they creeped me out. I've come to appreciate Blythe, but I draw the line at those paintings!

hee hee, says the woman with a wookie face in her home :)

I actually have the blonde girl with the black cat (same as in the home) and the other is a pen and ink drawing so it's not as intense as the paintings. If I ever have a doll/collectables room, they would go in there will all the other stuff. They always made me feel sad, now they are really mild compared to some of the contemporary work being done.

Oh wow! I am so super jealous Tiki! I have always wanted to check out that show! Shag is one of my absolute favorite artist. They don't show him nearly enough in CA anymore.

We had a pirate themed show here in L.A. a few years ago that was pretty neat. But still...TIKIS!!!!

Doesn't Shag live down in SoCal somewhere? I've seen pictures of his house in the LA Times--he has the coolest decor.

No, but I'll wager Boneboy does. His house is like Tiki Manor.

Is it so wrong that I'm now starting to think that Grievous would make a cool tiki? (Hey, he's already got the flaming tiki torches thing down!! Zing!!)

Please go ahead if you'd like. I had a lot of fun, so the more people can share tiki goodness, the better!
