Tiki Art Now!
Sep. 17th, 2006 12:51 pm
Or rather, tiki art yesterday. 'Tis been kind of hectic, so we've been procrastinating on getting up these pix from the marvelous tiki art show at Roq La Rue the other night. Anyways, the work pictured above is by the Grand Poobah of Tiki, Shag, who we actually got go meet.

A really humongo Tim Biskup piece that was near the entryway. Wish our picture did it justice, 'cause it's incredible.

This was one of our faves--a crazy tiki bird by an artist named Tiki tOny. We're not familiar with him.

Blythe by Lisa Petrucci, who lives in Seattle. Here's her house--is it not the awesomeness? She's also really nice.

Blockheads from Stuckie at Munktiki.

Here's the limited edition Munktiki mug.

We got #49 of 100 in the entire universe!

And the catalog. Since Boneboy was there, he helped us stalk some artists.

See? We got Shag's autograph! Teh kewl.

And Lisa too! She drew a kittie--EEEEEEE!!!

She's just as cute as her art. And super nice.

Date: 2006-09-18 04:57 am (UTC)and Lisa's house looks like a giant magnet for all the kische stuff I remember from the 60's and 70's, lol! (reminds me I gotta get my Keene's framed one of these days, they've been unframed since my mom gave them to me years ago, we are the original owners...)

Date: 2006-09-18 06:12 am (UTC)I actually have the blonde girl with the black cat (same as in the home) and the other is a pen and ink drawing so it's not as intense as the paintings. If I ever have a doll/collectables room, they would go in there will all the other stuff. They always made me feel sad, now they are really mild compared to some of the contemporary work being done.
