Yeah, they're from Japan. Prolly something someone won in a crane machine. The way it seemed to work, when we were in Japan, was that couples would wander through the arcade, and then the girl would inevitably start gesturing towards the Stitches and say somthing like (we don't actually know Japanese, but we're interpolating), "Oooo, look, Stitchie! So cuuuuuute! Will you please win one for me sweetie pie?" And then the boy would start dropping yen coins into the UFO catcher.
