Good morning little schoolgirl
Jun. 6th, 2006 10:07 am
Nina.
When we saw this doll announced on the Pullip boards, along with her bf, Sage, all we could think was, Why a kogal? Why now? Granted, we are usually premium suckers for Japanese schoolgirls, who are potentially cutest schoolkids in the entire multiverse.

Kinda....blah?

And the sloppy sox aren't even sloppy.

Um, yellow? Did they try to make this doll as boring as possible?

Here little pink phone.

Well, maybe we'll feel differently about Sage....

BTW, you didn't see an article a few weeks back (think it was the NY Times) about women in Asia hurting themselves with screwy "skin bleaching" cosmetics, did you? Thought maybe at least the gangaru look would get everybody over that idea, but it sounds like there was a backlash.

Date: 2006-06-06 05:56 pm (UTC)Although I certainly won't argue with the possibility that Jun Planning is running low on ideas, I thought Sage and Nina were April releases? I assumed that they were "Hurrah for the New School Year" themed.

I've been weirded out by Pullip's being too freaky before (I'm still goggling over the blue-eyed Native Americans), but I think this is the very first time I've had a problem with them being too bland.

Date: 2006-06-06 09:44 pm (UTC)But... yellow? No REAL PEOPLE ever, EVER wear yellow eyeshadow. (Okay, maybe it has an even more fierce and underground cult following than green, but while one can buy tins of green Maybelline, I have yet to see yellow eyeshadow at my local drugstore -- especially for lighter-skinned people as opposed to darker-skinned ones.) And yet, dollies go around with yellow eyeshadow ALL THE FREAKING TIME. It seems like a good HALF of the Blythe releases have yellow eyeshadow. Um... seriously, wtf?
