I'm not entirely sure how licensing works in Japan. Usually when companies in the US make licensed goods, there's pretty strict boundaries as to what they can and cannot make. Like, in the US, only Hasbro makes Star Wars action figures. But in Japan you'll sometimes see two or even three different companies all making dolls from the same anime. As you know from following this blog, there's like bajillion companies all making similar sized plush toys of Stitch.

Well w. anime toys I've notice that if the toy co. who does it in japan has a presence in the USA it's xfered over that way, like bandai doing both JP & US sailormoon for example. I suppose it might be different going East instead of West though... :P
