..we'll give ya minis!!

This Yujin set says "Dicotiledone" in English, whatever that means. Mostly, more mascots.

And lookee, manga!

Figures include Donald, a very flirtatious Daisy, Figaro (from Pinocchio, we thinks?) and a little happy plane whose name we should know....

....the inevitable Miss Bunny, Stitch, Simba, and Lady.

Now, we will do something that will SHOCK and AMAZE longtime readers....

Namely, TAKE STITCH OUT OF HIS LITTLE PLASTIC BAGGIE!!!!

Haha! Freaked out yet?

(Actually, we have another set.)

Apparently these are "Di-cotto", short for Disney Mascot (characters). The plane claims that his name is Pedro.

But (and please forgive me for being slooooow) "Dicotto" is written in hiragana, correct? I thought borrowed English was usually written in katakana, so I took it for some kind of Japanese word or phrase.

Any idea what "Dicotiledone" might refer to?

Sometimes stuff that ought to be written in katakana is written in hiragana, to enhance teh kewt. It's the Japanese equivalent of writing in big loopy cursive with hearts dotting the eyes.

I can only assume that "dicotiledone" is some kind of tragic mis-transcription. I've seen it from time to time (e.g. in a song lyric, "sacrifice" inexplicably rendered as "sarariforasu".

But I could be wrong! Maybe it's Italian or something.

That's awesome!

The biology nerd in me is coming out here--I thought it was funny 'cause some flowering plants are of the class Dicotyledon. (There's two classes of flowering plants, Monocots and Dicots.)

I honestly have no memory of his cartoon. I can see how he's be popular in Japan, thugh, since he's so round and cute.

Oh, and? When I first saw Pedro, I didn't recognize him, and I thought, "Oh no, it's Jay-Jay the Jet Plane! What's Disney doing with HIM!?"

I also did a double take. I thought he was from Tex Avery's 'Little Johnny Jet' until I remembered that these charms were all Disney characters.
