So, we got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] bittenbefore some time ago (we think it was 1968) to put up some random pix and 'splain them. We can't really do randomness, as we don't really have an online picture album, just scads and scads of images tucked away in folders all over the Internets. So, we've pulled out a few of our faves. Today's theme is, TRAVEL!!!

We're clowning around by the mile marker outside the Tunisian city of Tataouine. You might find the name suspiciously familiar, especially if you're a fan of a certain science fiction film.

Speaking of which, if you remember this scene....

..then, this is the place. It's called La Grande Dune, and, even though Tunisia encompasses a broad swath of the Sahara Desert, this particular location actually comprises a single sand dune just a few hundred meters from the roadway.

Also, since we just mentioned it, here's Hotel Sidi Driss, where Luke Skywalker once whined to his Uncle Owen about going to pick up some power converters.

No piccies of ourselves dining on couscous, unfortunately. But we can report that the ceiling was repainted by our buddy, Philip.

We could go on forever just pulling Tunisia photos, but if you're interested, you can go here and see bazillion more. Instead, we're gonna move on to an all-time fave piccie:

This was from our trip to Australia. If you've ever been, then you recall that you're about 5,842 hours on the plane, and then we got off in Brisbane where it was 90 degrees and 90% humidity and we just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep for a few weeks. But, the intrepid Mr. Tiki absolutely insisted on dragging us out to some zoo thing at the edge of town. 'Twas there we discovered that everything in Australia is cute and fuzzy and bouncy!!!!!!! (Well, that is, that which is not deadly and wants to kill you. But I digress.) Even one of these characteristics (i.e., bounciness) individually, would have slayed us, but the combination was lethal, and we erupted into an orgy of squealie girlieness, the extent of which still baffles our gentle spouse, who was, at the time, our boyfriend of just a year, and not so accustomed to our vagaries. We proceeded to spend a pleasant afternoon feeding bouncy things, capped by a chance to cuddle a little baby koala. (EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!) This also marked our first encounter with the World's Crawliest Bats (though they were safely encaged--our later encounters would not be so benign!) and Mr. Tiki's abiding enmity for Vengeful Koalas.

I turn into a squealing mess anytime cute animals are around. I've almost trampled on kids to get near piglets and other baby things. Australia would probably be some sort of cuteness overkill for me, from the way you describe it...

*Well, unless it's a box jellyfish, or a poisonous snake, or a spider with webs big enough to entangle small children.....

Hm, if austrailia is 5,842 hours by plane, using the same rate of exageration that would make the Philippines um... 7,594 hours! Seriously, depending on layover time, it usually takes 28-34 hours just to get to Manila where you typically arrive around 11p-1a local time. Last time we just stayed up, dozing in the local terminal to catch the first shuttle flight to Mindano...

(Can you say WASTED? I KNEW you could!) :P

...and then on the way back, we had to sit in the smoking section.

(That was Back in the Day, when you could share your gaseous cyanide addiction on planes.)
