Running a couple days behind (as usual). On Wednesday, after we'd seen the bouncing Totoros, Yoda-san brought us to Harajuku, where there was, inevitably, another temple.

This temple had the added bonus of gazillions of little girls dressed in kimonos!!

Yoda-san said it was a festival for girls aged 5, 7 and 9, which sounded like Girls Day to us, but he said it wasn't.

Look at the happy dad! He should enjoy it now, 'cause in a couple years, she'll be turning into this...

We had to finally stop taking pictures of street fashion, since we inevitably got the backs of cool kids walking away. It was kind of like Fruits came to life.

Harajuku Stitch!
Speaking of which, time for a temple of another sort, Kiddyland.

Pullip Pullip Pullip....

Blythe Blythe Blythe...

Lynn wanted me to snap some Barbie too.

Then we came home, where James Brown-san taught us how to get down and get fun-kay!

Pappa's definitely got a brand new bag.

Date: 2005-11-25 04:32 pm (UTC)I remember getting all dressed up for Shichigosan.
And no, it's completely unconnected to Girls' Day (March 3), or Children's Day (nee Boys' Day) on May 5.

Date: 2005-11-25 05:20 pm (UTC)Alas, the five-year age difference between me and my sis meant that I ended up celebrating both age three and age eight at the temple. :p And the kimono binding made me sick. :(
