Disney backs out of wine promotion

C'est la vie, Remy. The Mouse has decided that Costco's wine aisle is no place for a cartoon rat.

Walt Disney Co. said Friday that it had abandoned the wine business — even before its first bottles of Ratatouille Chardonnay were scheduled to hit the big-box store's shelves in August.

Bottles of the French 2004 vintage white Burgundy were to carry labels featuring Remy, the haute-cuisine-loving rodent who stars in "Ratatouille," the latest movie from Disney's Pixar Animation Studios.

Disney said it and Costco Wholesale Corp. canceled the promotion after getting flak from California winemakers and opponents of underage drinking.

Must've missed this whilst we were in Mongolia. Bummer!

Bush's UN Speech Full of Fone-eh-tick Pronunciations for World Leaders

Ann Compton and Jennifer Duck report: Never before has the White House released a draft version of the President's speech to the annual United Nations General Assembly.

But this year, a glimpse of how the President sees his speeches was accidentally placed on the UN website along with the speechwriters' cell phone numbers.

Pronunciations for President Bush's friend French President Sarkozy "[sar-KOzee]" appeared in draft #20 on the UN website. Other pronunciations included the Mugabe "[moo-GAHbee] regime" and pronunciations for countries "Kyrgyzstan [KEYRgeez-stan]" and "Mauritania [moor-EH-tain-ee-a]."

They forgot "nuclear [nook-YA-lur]."
