These are Sugar Sugar Rune dolls. Which Hobby Link Japan, at least for a delightful sliver of time, charmingly referred to as "Shugga Shugga Lune" dolls.





Anyways, this is our fave, Chocola, with a cranky expression. Check out the shoes!



And her little buddy, Vanilla.



These dolls were made by Tomy, but she's got kind of a vapid Azone expression.

Those are so cute! I'm tempted to start getting the Manga [Del Rey is translating it]. It's Moyoko Anno's first ever kids comic, and even ran in Nakayoshi. She's more well known for her more mature works like Happy Mania, Honey and Bees and Tramps like Us [woman takes in homeless man as pet]. She also did some design work for the Cutey Honey LiveAction movie. It's kind of messed up to see her doing a kids manga/anime and see tons of toys for it, but cool nonetheless as she has great art.

Vanilla's supposed to be kind of vapid/oversweet, but still evil ^_^ Cause she is a witch out for demonworld domination by stealing the hearts of humans.

I was very surprised reading the synopsis that Vanilla is evil!! I didn't know about Moyoko Anno, but now I'm gonna see about ordering the manga--this sounds like it could be interesting. My fave manga/anime are always the ones meant for the little kids, like Cardcaptor Sakura.

Ooo, looks like the first volume is supposed to be out next week!

Well, I don't think either of them are entirely evil. It's just that if you're competing to be queen fo the demon world, you have to expect a lil'bit of evil.But in a cute way, like Narbonic http://www.narbonic.com
I suspect it's all quite sweet, like any Nakayoshi manga.
I kind of wonder if anyone in the human world will notice their slightly pointed ears and fangs?

It's coming out next week? I'll have to watch for it.

I suspect it'll be the usual cartoon logic, where nobody notices Lilo's "dog" has six legs and antennae.

Eeee! I have Chocola! She's so cute. Love her shoes and stripey socks...and the pointy ears!

I ordered the manga from the comic catalog, as I fell in love with it based solely on the cover :p It hasn't shipped yet, but I promise to let you know if its any good once it comes out.

Interesting - that jeweled book (diary) makes an appearance first thing in the manga while it has yet to appear by eps 4 of the anime, though it's in the closing credits...

Hee!~ BTW, I think I emailed you before as I see you have the anime toys website... (I'm the one with a spouse who's intolerant of "crap" (ie:anime, video games, toys, etc etc)) -_-;

No, it's not all THAT bad but I'm a pack rat & she's minimalist so it does get tense... Right now it's kind of tight financially so I'm gonna try selling some of my anime stuff on ebay. The first season sailor moon toys should hopefully be worth something... :P
