A question of scale

We got this sweet Stitch vinyl figure from Hobby Link Japan.





We were quite impressed by the packaging. The box is about twice as big as we had figured.



That's 'cause it's got, um, tons and tons and tons of plastic.



Here's the actual doll. It's a really great rendering of Stitch.



But, take a look at the scale of the doll itself compared to the packaging. Um, how many trees died to bring you this palm-sized Stitchie vinyl? Eek!

That's one thing that really bothers me about Japanese toys--they sometimes feature about 75% more packaging than they really need. This can get to be a real issue with those of us who like to collect them but yet don't have a whole lot of room in which to store them.

This is an awfully cute li'l Stitch, though!
