Fuwa pon ball!

So, um, would some kind person like to explain to us exactly what a "fuwa pon ball" is? From our crude knowledge of the exclamations commonly used in Japanese manga (as in, FUWA FUWA!!), it seems the translation is something like, "gentle thump," like a Nerf basketball. But, we've been wrong before. Not often, but...
Meanwhile, we just like saying it. FUWA PON!

Date: 2005-08-17 11:58 am (UTC)"Fuwa fuwa" means light and fluffy. (there, "fluffy is also onamotapoetic). Light, like a cotton ball or puffy clouds.
"Pon" is is onamotapoetic for the sound something makes when it bounces lightly. Like a Ping Pong ball.
So... this is a light and fluffy ball.
So yeah, your definition is pretty good.
