This one has actually been in the Blu Ray player for over a week, while I tried to figure out WTF.

Kind of shows you what I thought about it, that I'm trying to figure out WTF instead of just going with the ridiculousness, like I did with Krrish or Ra.One. See the video above? This is the one and only dance sequence. And HRITHIK DOESN'T EVEN LIP SYNC! Pffft.

So, the plot: Hrithik is a grifter in Vegas. No explanation why an Indian dude is in Vegas, he just is. He gives dance lessons, and some chick gets sort of obsessed with him. He kicks her out when she sneaks into his place, but then changes his mind when he finds out she's the daughter of a rich casino owner. So he apologizes and enters a dance contest with her (in the video above). So far, so good. I wasn't terrifically sypathetic to Hrithik's character (known only as "J" for some reason), but it was kind of interesting.

THEN, he finds his new girlfriend's brother is engaged to a Mexican babe, and for basically no reason other than they need a plot to carry them through the next 2 1/2 hours, Hrithik runs off with her. And the now vengeful father decides he need to pursue them. And kill them.

There's some great Bolly-silly here: at one point, the fleeing lovers are in a hot air balloon. I rewound it at least three times and still didn't quite understand how they got there. Trouble was, to me, Hrithik and Barbara Mori didn't have a whole lot of chemistry, and there weren't any fun dance sequences to distract me.

I guess the deal with this movie is that they REALLY wanted it to play to an international audience. They even produced a whole different cut of this movie with less dance and more "sex." (That cut is on the Blu Ray I bought, but I haven't tried watching yet.) I liked the review that said, "Kites is essentially a love story. With exploding cars." Trouble is, for me, they ended up cutting out all the weird shit I love from my Bollywood.

BTW, I just joined a Bolly forum and got a ton of new recommendations. And heard I can get SRK bobbleheads!! :D
