Veer Zaara: WAAAAAAAAH!!!!

India: where riding in the luggage rack is FUN!



So, are you in the mood for a 3-hour crying jag?

Hint: don't watch Veer Zaara. ^^;;;;

The plot: Zaara is a plucky rich Pakistani girl (we know she's plucky because she just sang a song about it). BUT THEN she gets rescued from a bus crash by Veer, a brave Indian helicopter pilot who happens to be played by Shah Rukh Kahn and his dimples. Well, you can imagine. They spend the day in India together in many colorful production numbers. Plucky Zaara gives Veer's father a lecture about how the village girls must be educated, because GIRLS CAN DO ANYTHING. And Zaara is taken in as an adopted member of the family, because she's so darned plucky!

BUT THEN! Veer takes Zaara to the train station where she runs into some grumpy dude with a pencil-mustache. O HAI IT'S MY FIANCE! Oops....

She goes back to Pakistan for the loveles marriage, and SRK comes to rescue her, and then a bunch of people cry, and then he doesn't, but then he's boarding the bus back for Pakistan, and who shows up but Pencil Moustache, and he's arrested as a spy!

TWENTY-TWO YEARS LATER, another plucky girl who is a lawyer comes and visits some shaky, grey-haired old dude. It's SRK, and his dimples, and they've been languishing in prison, because he can't ruin Zaara's honor. The new plucky girl decides to take the case, because GIRLS CAN DO ANYTHING!!

Well, lots of bawling later, and we get to our conclusion.

I swear to god, this movie is actually TOO ROMANTIC! I literally had to pause it a couple times to go do something else because I COULD NOT EVEN. You wanna be a blubbering fool? This is your movie.

My fave most bit is when Veer shows Zaara around India for the first time: it's all the crazy stuff I remember from India, like people riding on the luggage racks, only it all just looks fun and amazing. There's also a SFX of a bus crash that looks like it cost about $1.75 to make (it's just that bad). But, damn. This was a romance that could beat up all the other romances.
