So, I had a couple hours to spare this afternoon, so I started OPENING DOLL HEADS!

Evil doll experiments

So, here is Pickles 2.1, with NEW, IMPROVED green eyechips.

Eye surgery

Here, in case you don't remember, was Pickles with the first Cool Cat eyechips. I thought the color was off.

But, you might ask, what happened to those old eyechips???

Evil doll experiments

Nathan: Where am I? Why am I so pretty? What happened to my hair? What's up with these douchey clothes.

Pickles: Dood, yer a dahl.

Evil doll experiments

Nathan: A doll?

Pickles: A dahl.

Nathan: A doll?

Pickles: A dahl.

Nathan: Like, a doll doll?

Pickles: Like a doll doll.

Evil doll experiments

Toki: Maybe you ams needs to visit Raziel's cocksessory bins, Nat'ans!

Skwisgaar: Pffft. Dat ams stupids ideas, Toki.

Toki: Ams not stupids!

Skwisgaar: Ams too stupids!

Nathan: Are they always like this.

Pickles: Naw, dey're usually worse.

Evil doll experiments

Raziel: Did someone say ACCESSORY BIN?

Nathan: Hey, who the hell are you? At least you're sorta hot.

Pickles: Er, dood, I wouldn't.

Sariel (to Boon): You know, this would be easier without you riding!

Skwisgaar & Toki: *amsarguearguearguearguearge*

Evil doll experiments

Raziel: There, isn't that just darling!

Toki: Haha, ams hystericockle!

Skwisgaar: Pffft-chortle.

Ganesh: Would you care, perhaps, for a martini, Nathan?

Nathan: *heavy metal sigh* I would like 100 martinis. Exactly 100 martinis.

I'm happy to see that the eye transplant was a complete success. Pickles looks a lot more picklier with those greener eyes. His old eyes do look good on Nathan, I must admit.

Oh wow, the family's getting larger and larger by the minute! With Nathan around, I suppose things are gonna be both brutal and metal. (looks at pink cap) Then again... :D

I didn't go into it, but it was kind of a mess. The first doll I wanted to use for the Nathan head totally wouldn't come apart, so I ended up stripping a bunch of screws. And then I finally got Pickles' head assembled and remembered I forgot to put his head ON HIS BODY. And then Nathan's blink mechanism wouldn't cooperate. AND I found out you can't swap an eye mechanism from a girl doll to a boy doll. Pffft.

But I do like those eye chips better for Pickles. I need to get a better wig for Nathan, but that's easy enough. And I still wanna add Toki's moustache. And I'm not 100% decided on Murderface.

But, it's getting a bit crowded here..... :D

Well that's it, now you have to improvise Murderface.

Dood, it's just (here's the clever thing I figured out today): Toki wears a 'stache, but MF IS HIS STACHE. I mean, seriously. SRS BZNS! It's not just, Oh, I'll go find a triangle hair wig, la la la.

True dat!

(I love Pickles' expression in this cap.)

Which leads me to wonder, if I'm gonna do Savage Young Dethklok, do I need to do Magnus??

Would a low-pile velveteen work for MF's 'stache? Of course, it means gluing it to the doll's face.

Yeah, that's a solution I had thought about for Toki's Fu as well. I have some heads I can practice on now.... Did you see the yarn-faced Blythes link Andrea sent? Sort of ... no words.

Yarn-faced Blythes? No, the only ones I saw had drawn-on facial hair.

Looks like he used Sculpy or something similar to shape the muzzles, and the hair looks like some loopy fabric just cut and shaped around the face. Amazing work, though.

That has to be a bitch-and-a-half drilling all those holes like that. One wrong move and the poor doll has a LARGE hole in its head. It really wouldn't be ruined, because you can always patch the holes and put a wig over it, but for yarn.

Well, now that I think about it, maybe the resin putty would repair a large hole, too.

...Or you could paint on a Groucho moustache.

I just never like how facial hair looks on dolls. ie,

I don't know if it's the fact that the facial hair is drawn on, or the baby-face look doesn't look right with facial hair.

Hmm, I say no Magnus.

Possible moustache idea:
1) Obtain small fuzzy brown catapillars, and whatever they eat
2) Smeer bug food on doll faces in the proper places
3) Apply catapillars

Oh, no, I've got a BETTER idea!

I'll sprinkle CHIA PET SEEDS on his upper lip, and then put him on the windowsill and water him every day!!

CHIAFACE!

Seriously, it seems like it's a lot easier to fail with a male doll than a female.

Thanks! I'm probably the last doll collector on the internets who hadn't opened a Pullip head. But, this doll's eye mechanism seems to be especially annoying. All the parts kept jiggling out of alignment every time I tried to put it back. That said, I think I like the Cool Cat eyechips better than most of the Groove ones.

Do I still count as a doll collector if I never dewigged or re-eyechipped a Pullip? I just admire them and sometimes make them pose with my other toys.

Heehee. No, you're a doll collector! I just consider you more an All Purpose Toy Goddess of some kind, as you have Ponies! And Transformers! And LEGO! And, much coolness.

I must say, I now have a lot more appreciation for those people on Flickr who turn their Blythe dolls into functioning chainsaws or bas-reliefs of the Mississippi delta.
