Join the Crew

Slowly but surely we've been picking up crew items from the Lilo & Stitch movie.



Like this kewl crew shirt (designed before they'd even finalized the logo).





We're still not entirely sure about how the crew item thing works at Dizzney. Everyone who works at Disney is known as their "cast," which makes things a bit complicated.



Anyways, there's some "crew" items which are available to pretty much everybody who works at Disney. This shirt, by contrast, was only given out to folks who actually worked on the Lilo & Stitch movie.



The t-shirt design is based on a sketch by Chris Sanders, of a very sexy Nani and surfing Lilo. Apparently, the look for Stitch still hadn't been finalized at this point, as he's pretty much hidden behind a mask.

You're a cast member if you work for DisneyCorpCoCom. "Cast exclusives" are items issued to employees for their work (e.g. uniform shirts, name badges -- they're not supposed to sell them, but they end up on eBay anyway), made as incentives or for activities (like my Atlantis canoe race lanyard), are only available for sale to cast members, or (in the case of pins) given to cast members to trade with the public.

Crew items are commemorative things given to the folks who work on a movie or TV show, and not just at Disney. There's usually an item made by the production company (e.g., those nice embroidered jackets), and sometimes a director or cast member will have something made for everybody.

I know from Gus that things are a little bit different at Lucasfilm. There are certain "crew" items which are indeed just given out to folks who worked on the film (there was a lot of this kind of swag back when Gary Kurtz was producing). But then there's also "crew" stuff--jackets, t-shirts, caps and the like--that's available for purchase by everybody at the company store.
