Sailor Weird
Sep. 15th, 2004 06:30 pmHow do you get three doctors to agree? That's not a riddle, that's my life. The answer is, you lock them in a room until they all give up!!
I'm so glad that where I work everyone has a great sense of humor. Lowly me was screaming at all these type A physician/professor types, and they just smiled and laughed. And, we got word that the grant for the Rural Health Research Center has been renewed for another 4 years, so things are looking a little less bleak in terms of money.
Ordered three different Japanese plushie Vampire Stitches from Youngqueen on eBay. Can't wait to see them. They look really silly from the pictures.
Today's bus book: What's the Matter with Kansas? by Frank. Thank god I had it along, since there was an endless line at Snakeway on the way home. Ever since they started remodeling, the wine has gotten way better, but the waits in line have doubled. I got a neat new cab called "PEPI," though I was a bit taken aback when I found out it was a SCREW TOP! Ach, I'm white trash!
Anyway, as for the book, I'm a little more than halfway through, and it's just excellent. Frank is trying to figure out how the state of Kansas went from a haven for deranged progressives at the turn of the century (it's the birthplace of John Brown), to solid Republican redstate madness. One of his points is that conservatism mostly talks about cultural issues, like abortion, but has wiped economic issues off the table.
Tried a new twist on the crock pot soupie today. Used the Cugino's Enchilada soup mix Gus likes, with chicken, dried designer mushrooms (I'm such a Bobo!), and those pre-cut potato thingies I found at Safeway.
Here's your image for today, I call her Sailor Weird:

The back story on her is, Gus got her in an eBay auction from a dealer in Singapore. I thought at first some customizer had just plonked a Poison Ivy head onto a Sailor Moon doll body, but (1) I can't find where the box has been unsealed (still possible it's been retaped though) and (2) the doll body and backing look different from my Irwin Sailor Moon:

So, is this just some random hybrid, or did they actually have different Irwin Sailor Moon dolls for distribution to the Asian market???
