I continue to be disappointed that the bulk of Japan's Transformers movie-related merchandise is straight-up imports of what we've got in the US. Seriously, they don't even give them cool new packaging for the most part; they just raise the price, slap a sticker on it that says "USA EDITION" or something, and call it a day. :/

In good news, Takara Tomy's increasingly desperate attempts to get people interested in Transformers have resulted in Mickey Mouse Optimus Prime (who does that little "bobbing up and down" jig that black-and-white cartoon characters always seem to do) and an upcoming Donald Duck Bumblebee (who reportedly will have some kind "Donald freaks the fuck out" action feature). The sheer madness of these toys almost makes up for the fact that they cost three times as much as a Hasbro-developed toy of similar size and complexity.

EDIT: No word on whether they'll do a Goofy Galvatron or Stitch Starscream, alas.

I would so totally buy a Stitch Starscream. Especially if it had the "Donald freaks the fuck out" action feature!
