Soybeans, or edamame, are a recent trend in Japan. Why? Um.... Dunno.



Anyways, looks like our little blue friend has got his head stuck in some bean pods.

Do you mean edamame toys are recent in Japan? Edamame as a food has been around for a few centuries.

I mean edamame as a pop culture phenomenon. Fish eggs have been around forever too, but it was just a couple years ago I started seeing those scary Tarako Kewpies and even worse Tarako Kewpie/Stitch hybrid thingies come to steal our souls.
