Time for some more Stitchie gashapon!

We're not totally sure about the name of the company. We think it might be Runa. Anyway, there are 16 items in the series, plus two "secret" figures.

Most of the figures are Stitchies.

But, no Lilo!

Still, they're darned cutie.

This series of figures is based on Lilo & Stitch TV show, which means....

Cousins, yay! Here's the eeeeevil 627 and Sinker.

Swirly and Stitch's boojiboo, Angel.

Sparky and 625. One neat thing is that, according to our poor katakana skills, they've retained the original names for the cousins.)

And yin and yang. (Or is that yang and yin?)

And the seekrit extras! Shhhh, don't tell:

It's 626, and his cool red police car, from the Lilo & Stitch original movie.

Holy crap I love gashapon sets. I have one of the first InuYasha sets like that, but I had no idea there is a Stitch set and with cousins! *wants*

Have you seen the Disney gashapon set (it includes a Stitch) that's a bunch of little teensy tiny gashapon machines, with even eeensy little gashapon of gashapon?

Neat stuff!

I can't remember the English names for the cousins, but I can tell you that:

The "Experiment" part of Experiment 625 and 627's names has been translated as Shisakuhin (Test Subject, or Test Product).

Elvis Stitch is merely translated as Stitch Singer. :(

Elvis Stitch is merely translated as Stitch Singer. :(

Oh, that's so funny, 'cause it says *in English* right on the insert, "The Likeness of Elvis is owned by EPE and used by permission."

I have the names of the cousins under their pictures, so "Sparky" is "Supa-key" and etc. It seemed odd they'd keep them in the Japanese version of the cartoon, as I'm not sure kids there would necessarily understand the English translation.

I think some of the names would be semi-comprehensible to kids in Japan. :) If I recall correctly (and it's been a while since I played my Pokemon cartridge) a lot of Pokemon attack names are based on English (e.g. Electric attack Spark/supaaku). Ditto for Yu-Gi-Oh monster names and such.

I boggle at the cross-cultural implications! Chris Sanders' design for Stitch was obviously anime-influenced. But, a major influence on the anime style was....Disney! Now, Stitch gets imported back across the sea, and designers try to magnify the anime style (like those super-duper deformed plushies I showed the other day).

I get easily distracted by stuff like this. ^_^

Wow! I recognize all the cousins except 627! I guess I've been keeping up fairly well. :3

These are just so damned cute. I wish anime conventions nowadays would sell more than Fullmetal Alchemist, InuYasha, and OnePiece crap. T_T; I wouldn't object to Japanese Disney stuff tossed in! It would certainly break the monotony I saw last weekend.
