Rei arriveth!

The Ayanami Rei 1:6 scale doll that Volks produced for a doll show of some type back in the Dark Ages (ie, a couple months back) finally showed up on my doorstep today. Or rather, since she came EMS, the little notie thing from the post office showed up on my doorstep. I had to haul ass down the hill to Broadway before the post office called to pick her up.

As I may have whined about before 6 or 800 times, I'm getting kinda burned out on 1:6 scale dolls, but I had to get Rei, as EVA dolls are kind of my "thang" (well, along with "Dolls with Whips" and "Dolls with Weird Hair" and "Dolls Dressed in Unappealing Furry Outfits," but I digress).



But they did a good job on Rei. Her hair color is different from any other of the six gajillion versions of Rei, so she actually looks kinda albino. And they even do neat little shoes:



Shoe fetishes are weird, but doll shoe fetishes are....well, they're weird too. Anyway, I *heart* Voks Rei, Rei is nice, now I'm just hunkering down expecting the deluge of "Rei in alternate universe school uniform" and "Rei in fanboy-pleasing swimsuit" and the other variants sure to be hitting a doll show near you soon.

She's very cute! I always thought the Marmit Rei, the one that I have in the plaid jumper (which you never see her wear in the show!), looks albino simply because they molded her out of that god-awful ivory-colored plastic. She's the palest doll I've ever seen--her skintone isn't anything like a living human being. (Maybe it's Zombie Rei...)
