Velvet Minuet! I've had coffee now. But I see you figured it out... she's my favorite Blythe -- if your collecting didn't have an obvious different focus, I'd try to convince you to keep her. (Of all my Blythes, I think I still like her best.)
After my spate of recent weeding, though, theeeeeemes are good. And sort of self-limiting? A little?
I think I'm gonna hang on to my Asian Butterfly. Because she's just kind of awesome. But the other Blythes are probably gonna go bye-bye. I like 'em, but I've just never had enough for them to be any kind of focus.
Well, if you're keeping in-box, too, I can see how Blythes would be less than thrilling. A lot of figures, say, look their coolest when arranged perfectly on-card, but Blythes are really... tactile. IMHO. The magic for me has always been stuffing my Velvet Minuet into weird places in the supermarket and things. *chortles*
Oh, I agree. My Asian Butterfly is out and about, somewhere, probably plotting against me. Same with Pullips, I think they look amazing deboxed. But, I'm just really never gonna have tons and tons of room for loose dolls.
Yeah... that's what putting finite limits on my collection. (And B&P are worse than, say, Jenny, space-wise, because of their GIANT HEADS.) It also seems a shame to have scads and scads of loose ones if you ignore them, somehow, to me. (Dusty hair, I think it is. Sadness.)
Whereas I never ever think to myself, "I don't have room for more Re-ment!" ;9
*nods* Dusty hair = bad dollie mom. I had my loose girls for a time in a nice curio cabinet, but it started getting too crowded, and now it's been invaded by the Blue Armada. Gus tends to have that issue too - curio cabinets are really for *display*, and not storage, because they just don't look so good if you try to cram 'em too full.
Yes, definitely! That's why I caved and made two pink shelves -- it just looked bad with them all crammed up there. (One day I'll have curios. My mother has the most gorgeous curios/huge glass bookshelves from an old pharmacy, and has the over-crowed problem.)
I gave in and made boxes for loose petites and some of the 1/6th "extras" (dolls that I think are funny/useful in photoshoots but not particularly valuable/display worthy). Since a lot of what I collect is for dioramas, I try not to feel too bad storing them like corpses. And I think I've posted about the massive Marvel Legend woes... I'm going to turn a bus into a giant display unit with magnetic shelves. IT TOOK ME YEARS TO FIGURE THIS OUT! (Uh, don't ask why we have extra buses lying around. Rural area and whatnot.)
It's gotta be so much worse for you guys, not just because of volume, but making sure the boxes are okay and such. Eeep!
Thanks! I managed to get the name sorted out at least. I kind of guessed she was limited after I started to get a barrage of queries from eBay buyers insisting I needed to add a Buy It Now to the auction. So, you know, it wouldn't get too expensive for them. Doll collectors make my eyes twitch sometimes.
