Those darned hardcopies

We'll start with Nani, and darned if the approval hardcopy doesn't look "sexier" than the final toy. Also, the toy has "jazz hands!"





The other thing we're noticing: the final toy is actually bigger than the proto, meaning, thinks Mr. T., that they may've gone back and done a whole new sclupt for this 'un.



The faces look pretty much the same though.

It's amazing what getting rid of the pelvic line/stomach muscles can do!

Is it just me, or did they also close her open-mouthed smile a bit?

I think they did. They may have also bent her right arm at the elbow so as not to be so obvious that OMG THIS TOY HAS BOOBS.

Also: no collarbone or upper ribcage arch on the final toy, either. Taking away all the bony landmarks =/= sexy?

Aha, I thought the prototype had a clavicle!

I guess they were making her less realistic and more doll-like? That smooth belly is kind of eerie, though.

"Doll-like" is a good way to put it. The undetailed trunk bothers me too--at least there's a crease made by her spine on her back! I don't see that on the prototype.

It's normal to lose some of the detail when they go from hardcopy to finished product (I'm gonna post some piccies of hc David vs. finished David in a bit, so you can compare). But, in this case, a guy who worked on the project actually told Mr. Tiki that it was done deliberately.
