tikistitchYou're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
If you'll recall, since they had burned all the books in Bradbury's dystopia, at the end of the novel, people actually memorized, and thus became living books.
Tikistitch has a *terrible* time with memorization. Just have never been able to do it. So we'll need to choose something silly enough for us to have a chance at committing to what's left of our memory. The choice is obvious: Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass.
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Sigh. Heathcliff. Especially after we saw the movie that was almost but not quite based on the book.
The last book you bought is?
Fat Girl: a True Story, by Judith Moore. But it hasn't arrived yet.
What are you currently reading?
We're usually reading several things simultaneously, due to an inability to finish the final 50 pages of anything. This week it's:
Disney War, by James B. Stewart. Quick review for busy people: Michael Eisner is a dick.
21 Dog Years: A Cube Dweller's Tale, by Mike Daisey. Hysterical--I keep laughing out loud on the bus.
Hello to All That: A Memoir of War, Zoloft and Peace, by John Falk. At times, this is hysterical, too. As a life-long depressive, I can say he captures the blank moods perfectly.
Five books you would take to a deserted island?
First we'd make sure we weren't on the Lost island, where the current bestseller list seems to consist of Claire's diary, postcards from your mom, and "How to Evade Big Giant Werewolf Thingies."
1. The "Alice" books.
2. An anthology of Grimm Fairy Tales (it would have to be the unexpurgated, original gory ones).
3. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, by Hunter Thompson.
4. The Martian Chronicles, by Ray Bradbury
5. The Phantom Tollboth, by Norton Juster
Also, someone on Daily Kos just posted these delicious cafe mocha pictures. Mmmmm, coffee....
