Nerd party!

Had a viewing party for the Star Wars DVDs last night, and it was a blast. Earl, Lauren, Joey and Sean came over, and we crowded around over my minestrone soup and beer and chips to micro-dish over the new version of A New Hope. Joey thinks it's too green. We all cringed when the TIE fighter with the big ol' matte box flew across the screen. The first time Obi-Wan flipped back his hood, I said, "Oh, shit! I heard they were going to overlay Ewan McGregor," and everybody laughed. We were all glad they finally beefed up the flickering lightsabers, though we were a bit taken aback by the morphing lightsaber colors. It's an amazingly clear version, and I saw stuff I'd never noticed before, even after seeing the moview bajillion times, and bajillion ways.

I'm so glad I'm a nerd. It's great to drop your pretensions and just be silly about something.

Oh, heard from Tania and Melinda that there's a new show on VH1, called "Totally Obsessed." It looks a lot like what they seemed to want from us when they were taping "Hopelessly Devoted." Thank god that never ran, since I guess they totally make fun of people on the show--that's the whole point.
