Stitch concepts yay!
Mar. 21st, 2006 06:44 amWe are probably the only person on our FL who digs this item, but soooooo what?

This is a little internal thingie-dealie Disney threw together to inspire the good folks working on Lilo & Stitch merch.

But you don't have to go very far before you get to....

...a warning! Oooo, so don't look, or Dizzney will get Interpol on yo' ass!
Check out the date: November 9, 2000. L&S was not officially released in the US until 2002.

The book's pages look like they've been color-xeroxed. Looks like it's something they sent out to licensees. It includes info on the plot and characters, and "positioning" about who the film is marketed towards. (Think girls and boys aged 2-8. Yup, that's right, you are too old to be liking Lilo & Stitch!!) We like this conceptual collage that's supposed to help one thinking about products for girls, or as the books would have it, "Sassy surfers."

More collages (don't Marketing people love collages? What, were they all paste-deprived as preschoolers?), this one aimed at the boys campaign, "Sci-Fi Beach Party." Hey, Dizzney, it's SF!! Don't wanna offend a bunch of future nerds? A couple pages in, they recommend you think, "Space meets surf; Edgy meets laid-back." It sounds like a new band.

There's even little samples of the color palette. One for boys, and one for girls! (The girls palette is all in pretty flowers.)

There's also a lot of chara and background design from the movie, including this drawing from Chris Sanders. Makes it look like the movie was pretty much complete at this time. The timeline in the back suggests that the movie will be screened for "2-3 key retailers" in January of 2002. Which means Walmart prolly got to see it before you did.
