Dec. 9th, 2004 05:35 pmSpent the morning shopping at a couple of Barcelona collectibles shops: Cosmic, which is over by Sagrada Familia, and Alien, which is near the Barri Gothic. Duncan took a million billion years at Cosmic, but ended up loaded down with Star Wars comics en espanol. At the second location, I crossed the street to another comic shop, where we found capsule toys for Little Witches Doremi. Then I was thrilled when Gus spotted some Disney PVCs in an obscure corner. "They have every Disney character except Stitch," he told me, but they did have Lilo. Then when we asked, they also located Stitch. They were made in GERMANY. Do you know of anything that´s made in Germany?
Then ambled around the Gothic part of the city, although so far have spotted no kids with piercings dressed in black, as we´d expected. Instead, just a big ol´church. (Of course, it was 7/8 covered in scaffolding as well.) The guys insisted on cruising the flea market in the courtyard outside. Much of it was Xmas themed, and a whole big section had nothing but little figures for your creche. One table kind of confused us, as beside the 1-24 scale mangers, there were figures of characatures of famous Spanish people, taking a dump. Yeah, taking a dump--they even had itty bitty crap underneath. We were kinda weirded out that it was mixed up with the manger scenery, and in a churchyard. Philip posited, "Perhaps zat is zee origin of zee expression, Holy Shit!"
Overnight train to Seville tonight, and then another overnight train the next night, so this is probably my last login before we get back to the U.S. Gus wants to buy food for the train trip tonight. There´s plenty of groceries available at the Sants train station here, including fine wines, and whole animal legs. Bon voyage!
