For no other reason than minty wanted to take a look:

This is CIAO Jenny, so named because of the Japanese mag, CIAO (see how that works?).

Anyway, CIAO had a design contest, and I guess whatever picture contained the most disturbing imagery, won.

You can see the happy contestants. I wonder, from the designs. if CIAO is somehow concerned with the legalization of medical marijuana?

CIAO Jenny in all her happy starry unicorn Smurfy glory.

And her leggings teach you the alphabet!

Well, up to M anyway. After that, take another puff, 'cause you're on your own kiddo.

Awwww. IIRC, Chao (I never realized it was supposed to be Ciao!) Magazine is the youngest-skewed of the shojo manga magazines. Like... early to mid grade-school level, I think, although there are almost always a few older grade school students in the mix. It is slightly mind-boggling to read young-skewed shojo manga, because they still have the shojo manga "bad boy" archetypes and so forth... only instead of being brawling high school punks, they are sporty fourth-graders who flip up skirts and tease protagonists about the color of their panties.

Awesome, Pam! Thank you so much. I think I probably wanted to be this doll when I was in 4th grade.

For some reason, the Saturday Superstar Movie theme is in my head now.

Good lord, really? I always thought panty flashes were a shounen thing. (Although Avalonjones once showed me a kooky videotape with a mecha panty flash.) I'll have to see if I can get a copy of the mag next time I'm at Kinokuniya.

I think the panty flashes of the bottom are a shoujo thing ("OH, you're such a naughty thing!") whereas lovingly rendered panty crotch shots are a shonen thing. Shonen manga also seem to be more interested in cleavage than shojo manga, although quite a few shojo manga I've read have had a "Oh wow, your boobs are so big! I wish mine were so big!" scene in either a changing room, a beach, or a hot springs bath.
