Yes, there are some people who will tell you that science is just like religion. By and large, they are the same type of people who told us that Al Gore was indistinguishable from George Bush. We say, pay them no mind, and let them continue along pushing their grocery carts and raving about the CIA.

P.S. Here's a link to a longer (and way better) rationalist raspberry from P.Z., who also courteously provides links to the responses of many other scientists whose Sunday breakfasts were similarly ruined by opening our New York Times editorial pages to complete piffle this morning.
